Music to launch fireworks by

I watched the movie last night, the first movie by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson, who also co-wrote Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums (Anderson also co-wrote The Life Aquatic, with someone other than Wilson). I’ve always thought Anderson’s other works have paled in comparison to Rushmore, and Bottle Rocket was consistent with that. I find his non-Rushmore movies to be too meandering and quirky for my taste. However, the music is ALWAYS excellent. From the songs chosen (often from 60′s British groups) to the scores done by Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo fame).

Anyway, in Bottle Rocket, Luke Wilson becomes infatuated with a hotel housekeeper from Paraguay, and there is a song that plays from her radio that doesn’t appear on the soundtrack. After some searching at Amazon, I found that the song (Prendeme la vela) is on a collection of tunes called Afro-Peruvian Classics: The Soul of Black Peru. The whole album is great—well, except for a song by David Byrne (of the Talking Heads). How did David Byrne get a song on this album? Well, he owns the that put out the compilation.
