Doctor, Doctor

I went to a doctor at Hall Health yesterday for a physical. Pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. I guess I must be healthy…which is nothing to sneeze at. I’m still slightly worried about my neck (herniated disc) and how it will deal with being crooked on a bike for many hours each day. I’ve been riding my bike as upright as possible these days. I’d like to try to increase my miles before we leave, but I have a feeling that we are going to be doing our training as we start our journey. So slow and easy will be the theme for the first few weeks.

Apparently, Hall Health has Travel Counselors that specifically work with traveling patients. I gave them a big long list of the countries we will/may visit (I still have to consult a map): Mexico, Guatamala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil. Hmm…probably should have told them Uruguay too. Holy crap, we’re going to need a lot of shots…I will definitely be lying down. Immunization day is August 18.

Cindy just checked out a massive number of books from the library, most of which seem to be trip related. I just bought Eric Boehlert’s book “Lapdogs”, and I’ve been dying to read it, but with all the trip-related homework, I may not have time for a while. You can read an except from the book at Salon.
