We are considering ending the trip with the ultimate celebration- Carnival in Brasil, Feb 2-5, 2008. Its pretty expensive and hotels fill up fast in Rio, but Carnival is celebrated all over South America so I’m sure we can find festivities somewhere.

This is based on an average of 50 miles/day, 5 days a week or 1000 miles/4 weeks, with lots of extra time added for getting sick, being tired or just wanting to stay in one place for a while.
